Sports agent Matisse Spencer has never had a problem attracting women, but going the distance with them has been a different story. The author kept my intrigue throughout the novel. Great first sentence, that leaves you wanting to finish the last sentence in the book. Well written, great characters, great details to give to the reader!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I couldn’t put it down! It definitely makes it to the top five of my all-time favorite reads. The author did a great job including just the right mix of sports, suspense, and passion. I loved getting to know the characters… at least I thought I knew the characters until various surprise twists and turns! This novel should be on everyone’s reading list, as it is just as intriguing for men as it is for women.
Hope there is a sequel in the future!
This is an awesome story! You have to read this book...this book has so much to offer - some mystery, mixed with relationship challenges everyone faces in one form or another, characters all can relate to - plot twists, and lots of surprises. This is a great read. There is at least one character in the story that everyone will relate to.
I was given "Look Around" from a friend who knows the author. The book's target audience appears to be for young African American males who have an interest in sports. I am very far from that demographic. However, I found the book to be an incredibly quick read. I finished it in a few hours. It held my interest throughout. The book is an interesting blend of genres. It has a romantic/relationship element. It has a sports/lawyer element. It has a a mystery element. The author does a very nice job blending all of the various genres.
I thought the author did a very credible job in several areas
- He did a nice job establishing his characters. They are varied without being stereotypical. He adds a number of quirky characters that keeps the narrative moving.
- He has a nice feel for dialogue. One gets a feel for Matisse's world as a sport's agent. His dialogue with a variety of characters seems true.
- The author keeps the story moving balancing all of the elements. The plot continues to move and there is a twist at the end.
Considering the scope of the novel and all that it tried to accomplish I thought Mr. May did an excellent job. One gets a feel for his main character throughout the novel as he reflects on his relationships with women and characters that appear throughout the novel. He does a nice job expanding this area without sacrificing the plot. He keeps the reader interested throughout the process.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the sports entertainment and a good mystery. His characters are interesting and the story moves at a rapid pace. It is an excellent summer read. It's a great way to spend a few hours in a world that was unfamiliar to me.

This book was an easy read and very entertaining. It's an intriguing novel about a circle of friends associated with professional sports, sex, romance, passion and murder! The suspense keeps you reading...you won't want to put it down!
